Did you know that a descending aeroplane might have inspired the design of bubble wrap? Or that a request for the preservation of food for his troops by Napoleon, led to the eventual development of tin can? Know all these remarkable facts about the most mundane objects, the ones that remain uncelebrated but heavily used in our everyday lives at the Science Museum.
Our hidden heroes are giving a spectacular performance in 'Hidden Heroes - The Genius of Everyday Things' at the Science Museum. Expected to see are some dear old friends - pencil, ballpoint pen, post-it note, umbrella and many more at this educational exhibition put together by Vitra Design Museum, Germany.
The featured inventions are presented alongside original sketches and drawings by their inventors - illustrating the process from idea to final object. The exhibition also reflects the ways in which these objects continue to provide inspiration to others. Suitable for eight plus.
