Poetry Competition Winner Announced!

Thank you so much for your entries to our Mother Earth themed poetry competition we launched in the Spring / Summer edition of The Parents’ Directories. Judging was tough as we had some great entries, however....

We are delighted to announce that Anna Grant, aged 10 of south London is our worthy winner!

With a global focus now on climate change and the effect this will have on our children and future generations to come, school children worldwide are voicing their concerns. Along with the concerns about the dangers of plastic in our oceans highlighted by recent TV coverage, more emphasis is now being given to these subjects in schools with organised projects where kids can get involved and do their bit.

Our poetry competition was designed to give children the opportunity to air their feelings via poetry about these very relevant issues.

We received some amazing poems but Anna’s stood out. The winning prize is a family day out at the beautiful WWT Wetlands Centre in Barnes. WWT conserve, restore and create wetlands, save wetland wildlife, and inspire everyone to value the amazing things healthy wetlands achieve for people and nature. A fitting prize for our competition and amazing young poet. Congratulations Anna!

Have a read of Anna's thought provoking entry below.
