Handel House Museum

25 Brook Street, (entrance from rear), Mayfair, London

Handel House Museum at 25 Brook Street was once home to the great baroque composer George Frideric Handel from 1723 until his death in 1759. The only composer museum in London, this museum is where Handel composed some of the greatest music in history, including Messiah, Zadok the Priest and Music for the Royal Fireworks.

The Museum displays portraits of Handel and his contemporaries in finely restored Georgian interiors and by bringing live music back to his house. Frequent music concernts and special musical eventsare held in addition to regular displays and exhibitions which bring Handel's world to life.

In 1968 Jimi Hendrix moved into the top floor flat of 23 Brook Street with his English girlfriend Kathy Etchingham. The flat is now the administrative office of Handel House Museum, and an English Heritage Blue Plaque recognises Hendrix’s residence.
