Wildlife-watching made easy!

The WWT London Wetland Centre makes the natural world more accessible than ever, thus making it the ideal destination for families.

Finding a day out that accommodates all the family’s needs doesn’t have to be a nightmare. There is a way to combine close-up natural encounters with gentle paths, plenty of seating, wheelchair access, mother and baby facilities, rest and shade stops and beautiful views.

WWT London Wetland Centre is a safe place to enjoy the wonders of wetland wildlife. Adults and children can have nose-to-beak encounters with some of the world’s rare birds, surrounded by stunning scenery. And it’s not just birds - you can see mammals, reptiles and creepy crawlies too!

Spending time near water is an essential day-out experience and makes for unforgettable memories. You can play with it, gaze at it and marvel at the myriad forms of wildlife that cluster round it - water’s never boring. There is always something to see and do at London Wetland Centre, 364 days of the year and you’ll find getting about and joining in is easy for everyone, you can choose as much or as little activity as you want. Fully accessible experiences range from pond dipping to viewing towers and accessible hides - and always includes close-up wildlife encounters.

While we can’t guarantee the weather, you’re never far from shelter and we also have ample parking, comfortable hides, easy buggy and wheelchair friendly pathways, a mobility scooter and wheelchairs available to use (please book in advance), a fully stocked cafe (with moveable seating), gift shop and disabled and parent & baby facilities. Great facilities mean all your needs are catered for, alongside the wild and wonderful experience of being able to envelop yourself in the natural beauty of the wetland environment.

WWT London Wetland Centre is a 105 acre wetland visitor centre in Barnes, southwest London, an international award-winning visitor attraction and a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). It is home to a wide range of wildlife species including birds, water voles, bats and amphibians. Facilities include six wildlife hides, the Water’s Edge Café, Observatory, a gift shop and free car park. The Centre also has adventure play areas for children.
